Ng Yen Yen's YES, YES, YES - the fine line between genius and insanity !!!

Ng Yen Yen's YES, YES, YES - the fine line between genius and insanity !!!

Ng Yen Yen had a Yes-No battle with the Melaka folks on Sunday evening (24th Feb, 2013).

(
http://www.malaysiakini.tv/video/25003/yen-yen-caught-in-yes-no-battle-in-malacca.html)

This is another example of what I wrote in my earlier article on “Whom the God would destroy, they first make mad” (Euripides).

(

How else to explain the Right Honourable Minister of Tourism's recent faux pas ? Look at her. She is a medical doctor. She must possess some grey matter between her ears to be able to climb the political ladder of having achieved the status of a full fledged Minister in the cabinet. She chose to engage in a Yes-No battle with the Melaka folks despite having witnessed her boss, Najib's recent fiasco with the Penang folks. The Penang Gerakan youth chief, Oh Tong Keong stated in his press conference that a senior female Minister caused the “Yee Sang” fiasco. According to Oh, “a minister” had instructed the emcee “ad hoc” to invite Psy to toss “Yee Sang”, without informing Psy’s manager ahead of time.
That resulted in shame (in Samy Vellu’s words, “kemaluan kepada saya”) and indignity (in Ghaffar Baba”s words, “we are not in the well”) to the nation when the Prime Minister, former Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers were publicly embarrassed, waiting forlornly for five minutes in vain for Psy to join them.

It does  not end here. The initial version of the “Yee Sang” fiasco was dismissed by by the Penang Barisan Nasional chief, Teng Chang Yeow who came out with a Bollywood-like plot to kill Psy. Hence, Psy could not join the VVIPs for the “Yee Sang” tossing but Teng failed to explain why Psy continued to perform three songs at close proximity with the audience after the “Yee Sang” tossing and why  PSY had a meal without police supervision just before he flew off despite the fact that his life was threatened.

Why did Ng Yen Yen persist in trying to get the Melaka folks to agree with her after the Penang bitter lesson ? You may call it an exercise in power of persuasion but I can safely call it a display of utter contempt of the freedom of choice; a display of utter arrogance bordering on madness; and most importantly, the writing is on the wall. The Rakyat's patience has been drained. Her latest demeanour was the straw that broke the camel's back. I am sure everyone was shocked at the Melaka folks' reaction, especially Yen Yen and the emcee as they both looked non-plussed and flustered.

On the same count, BN (earlier, called Perikatan) started off with a noble cause i.e Perikatan (formed in 1951 but formerly registered in 1957, consisting of UMNO, MCA and MIC was credited for fighting for independence from the British in 1957 and also the formation of Malaysia in 1963.

However, BN's latest series of comedy of errors starting from (i) Lori Gostan's "Gong Xi Fai Cai" greetings (http://pics.lockerz.com/s/281898863) (to the uninitiated, it should have been "Fa Cai" and not "Fai Cai". The former means "amass wealth" whilst the latter means "useless bum"); to (ii) Najib's CNY advertisement that went awry. His name, Najib (纳吉) was written wrongly to connote bad luck. The word "" consist of two words "" and "", not "", ""; to (iii) Najib's embarrassing stint in Penang with Psy i.e for being the only Prime Minister in the world to open an act for an entertainer as opposed to, for eg, recently Psy was the opening act for the new President of Korea, Park Geun Hye; (iv) Najib's "Are you ready for BN?" was answered with a resounding "NO!!!" by the Penang folks; (v) our mainstream media giving different accounts of the PSY event from the alternative media and foreign media. All these seems to suggest that the fine line between genius and insanity has been erased !  Time is ripe now for us to make a change for the better. Are we ready for PR ? Yesssss !!! Yessssss!!!! Yessssss!!!!

De-register DAP ? No Way, Hisham !!

I would like to comment on Hishamuddin's statement today that ROS can investigate DAP : http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/bahasa/article/ros-boleh-mula-siasat-dap-kata-hishamuddin/

In his haste to finish us off, Hishamuddin made a huge blunder by jumping the gun. His motive was manifested ever so clearly. The 60 days period that he mentioned can be found in Section 14 of the Registrar of Societies Act 1966. Section 14 stipulates that every registered society shall forward to the Registrar inter alia, copies of AGM minutes; attendance; amendments to rules (if any); list of office bearers; address of the society; accounts within 60 days after the holding of its annual general meeting. For those who are familiar, it is actually the filing of Borang 9 returns. DAP has filed the necessary returns in accordance to Section 14 as confirmed by our DAP NS State Chairman and also National Organising Secretary , Anthony Loke.

What Hishamuddin meant was probably Section 16 which stipulates that if the Registrar is of the opinion that a dispute has occurred among the members as a result of which the Registrar is not satisfied of the identity of the persons who have been properly constituted as office-bearers of the society, the Registrar may serve notice on the society requiring the society, within one month of the service of such notice, to produce to him evidence of the proper appointment of the lawful office-bearers of the society and if any such notice is not complied with to the satisfaction of the Registrar within the period of one month, the Registrar may take steps to cancel the registration of the society.

What the ROS should have done was to issue the notice pursuant to Section 16, which the ROS did not do so. I opine that even if the notice was issued, we are still are covered. Firstly, pursuant to Section 16, we can produce evidence of the proper appointment of the lawful office bearers i.e the internal and external auditors' reports which clearly states that the manual counting and results were proper and valid. However, there was a "copy and paste" error when the results were transcribed to the computer. The mistake was then rectified.

Secondly, under Sections 18A-18C (provisions applicable to political parties only), where there is any inconsistency between Sections 18A-18C and any provisions in the Act, Sections 18A-18C shall prevail. Section 18B stipulates that no election in any political party shall be invalid by reason of any failure to comply with any provision of the political party's constitution or any rules or regulations, if it appears to the political party that the result of the election would have remained the same had there not been any failure to comply with any such provision. Most importantly, Section 18C stipulates that the decision of a political party on any matter relating to the affairs of the party shall be final and conclusive and such decision shall not be challenged, appealed against, reviewed, quashed or called in question in any court on any ground, and no court shall have jurisdiction to entertain or determine any suit, application, question or proceeding on any ground regarding the validity of such decision.

I repeat emphatically that the decision of a political party on any matter shall be final and conclusive. What more having been vindicated by the external auditor's report. De-register DAP ? No way, Hisham !!

Therefore, I urge the Home Minister to do some homework before making a press statement which threatens to de-register our party !

Postscript : You see, when UMNO was deregistered in 1987, they wanted to ensure that history does not repeat itself and enacted Section 18C. Dear Hisham, Chedet pre-empted any moves by political opponents to de-register a political party back in 1987 (but Section 18C only took effect in 1990). So now you are wrong to say that our situation is the same as the time UMNO was deregistered. Looks like we have to thank Chedet. Further, the Court in the case of Pendaftar Pertubuhan Malaysia v PV Das (Bagi Pihak People’s Progressive Party of Malaysia (PPP)) concluded that under the circumstance the election of the plaintiff as President of PPP and the approval and endorsement of the defendant’s Presidency of the PPP are the decisions of a political party within the meaning of s 18C of the Act and that the business of electing the president or the approval and endorsement of the president are ‘matters relating to the affairs of the party’. Therefore, decisions on such matter in the view of the Court are final and conclusive decisions and the court has no jurisdiction to question the validity of such decisions.

Section 18C of the Societies Act makes such disputes matters of internal affairs of the political parties and a non justiciable political question not fit for judicial determination. The section precludes the courts from exercising jurisdiction in matters relating to the internal affairs of political parties.

Bukit Kepayang Dinner 2011 - Thoughts from the Past - Part 3

Postscript : I prepared and delivered the speech below in 2011. That was the first time I delivered a political speech in mandarin. I have to thank Mrs Tan Fu Tee for her guidance. She even  told me the day before the fateful day that if she was me, she would not dare to deliver the speech alluding at my not too perfect delivery.

I am also attracted by what I wrote, especially the part on divine timing. This can complement what I was trying to convey when I used Euripides' "Whom the God would destroy, they first make mad". We have to really grab this divine timing !

Bukit Kepayang Dinner 2011

Hitler used to share with his closest friends that "what luck for rulers that men do not think". For the past 55 years, Malaysians have been too apathetic and kind as we endured one bad leader after another (逆來順受). Allowed the rotten government to turn into bad government. From a bad government to a nasty government. From a nasty government to a wicked government. A government that practices political oppression (政治迫害) ; corruption (腐敗); abuse of power (濫權) and allow wastages to happen. We allowed these bad leaders to dupe us one general elections after another. We used to be a rich country. Our Ringgit was stronger than Singapore Dollar. Now, the Rakyats are suffering. 1 SGD is now RM 2.5! There are not enough jobs to go around. We need to come out of the matrix or vicious cycle (离开恶性的循环) and into a new cycle of change in order to save our future generation. 55 years of deception and oppression is enough.

Suddenly, 308 (the 12th General Elections) happened. 308 shook BN's strong foundation. 308 gave an opportunity to the opposition to prove that Pakatan can be a better government than BN. For eg, Penang. CM Lim Guan Eng's CAT principles (Competency, Accountability and Transparency) has become a model for all the other states to follow. Pakatan's prudent management managed to put Penang and Selangor in the top 3 in the Auditor-General's report card for the highest savings and highest FDI (Foreign Direct Investment). This report card was not written by Pakatan but by the Auditor-General.

Suddenly, Arab Spring happened. Middle Eastern countries like Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Syria and Yemen experienced a regime change like a domino effect. Such strong and powerful leaders/despots like Gaddafi, Mubarak etc all fell one by one. The Arab Spring has caught the imagination of the masses and has influenced many people to be agents of change.

Suddenly, the world economic crisis happened. USA, such a superpower, was at the verge of bankruptcy. They printed more money. Still not enough money. So, they had QE1 and QE2 and perhaps, QE3 in order to salvage themselves. Malaysia is also facing the same problem. Our national debts now stands at RM502 billion and counting. Our PM, Najib asked us not to panic as Malaysia was quite different from Middle East. Who is he kidding but himself? This situation can be likened to a divine timing. As the chinese saying goes, It simply means “the right time, the right place, and the right people” (more literally “heavenly timing, location advantage, and human harmony”).

We must make use of this golden opportunity. A divine timing which does not happen very often, to use our valuable votes for a change. UBAH !

On the Sept 15th, 2011, Najib made a "groundbreaking" announcement in his Malaysia Day's speech. He said the government shall repeal the 3 Emergency Declarations and the draconian statutes like ISA, Printing Presses and Publications Act and Banishment Act. These are BN's powerful weapons (致命的武器) to curb opposition and Rakyats who do not accept the government's policies. Why should BN take away these powerful weapons First reason is for BN's political survival. Like the lizard's survival skill. The lizard will shed its tail in order to escape for its predator/death Second reason is because Pakatan denied BN their 2/3rds majority in Parliament. After 308, BN is no more all-powerful. BN has to listen to the Rakyats' voices. BN has to heed the opposition's demands for the Rakyats. Beware ! If we allow BN to win (過關) the next general elections (臉型披露) then they will use more powerful weapons against us (我們就倒黴). We need to have a stronger two party system with check and balance or a regime change to avoid absolute power falling into any one party's hands.

BN Going PSYcho Before Its Impending Demise !

Statement by DAP Negeri Sembilan, Seremban Branch Secretary, Nicole Tan Lee Koon (陳丽群)

“Whom the God would destroy, they first make mad” (Euripides) Nicole Tan Lee Koon, Secretary of Seremban Branch, DAP Negeri Sembilan condemns BN’s latest “Bread and Circuses” stunt by paying  RM 2 million for PSY to perform in Penang as mad ! BN has completely lost the right to lead Malaysians. Only in 1MalaysiaBoleh can the government of the day use tax payers’ money to the tune of RM 2 million to hoodwink the public yet again. In the tradition of Greek and Roman tragedies, BN shall be destroyed in GE 13  ! For whenever the anger of divine spirits harms someone, it first does this: it steals away his(their) mind and good sense, and turns his (their) thought(s) to foolishness, so that he (they) should know nothing of his (their) mistakes.

The term "Bread and Circuses" is a figure of speech for a fake sense of satisfaction or the “feel good” factor. To politicians, it connotes the winning formula for the survival of the Roman Republic for centuries. Both the Roman Republic and China’s Han dynasty lasted for 500 years. The former was an oligarchic democracy which used “bread and circuses” whilst the latter was an absolute monarchy. Instead of winning the citizens’ approval through excellent public service and policies, the Roman Republic gave cheap food and entertainment. The Roman Republic provided the bread and circuses in order to keep the Roman citizens from becoming too discontent with their lives. The Roman government provided the citizens with enough food (bread) so they wouldn't starve and enough entertainment (circuses) so they would be amused. Hence, the Romans elected them again and again.

BN’s breads are the 1Malaysia goodies and handouts (BR1M Part 1 & 2, free tyres for taxi drivers, smart phone allowances for young adults, FELDA’s RM15,000, pay rise for civil servants,
1.5-month bonus for the 1.4 million-strong civil service;  RM250  to unmarried citizens above 21 years old and earning less than RM2,000; schoolchildren got RM100 each; etc.

BN's circuses shows are the alphabet soup management (ETP, GTP, NKRA etc); not forgetting tarring the roads before any General elections. The latest great circus show is the performance by PSY in the Han Chiang school field on February 11th (second day of Chinese New Year) organised by BN.

In fiction, a tragedy is a morally significant struggle, ending in the destruction/downfall of something/someone of great value or importance. The tragic playwrights of ancient Greece such as Euripides (484 BC – 406 BC)  invented the form, later developed by the Romans such as Seneca (4 BC – AD 65), accentuating the role of morality in the conflict. These Greek and Roman playwrights also created the classic warnings as follows : Whom the God would destroy, they first make mad” (Euripides) and “Whom God wishes to destroy, He first make mad” (Seneca); that madness precedes, and causes, destruction. Most importantly, it is the essence of madness that those afflicted by it cannot see it, and scoff as mad those who do. The divine powers that have made them mad, that have turned them against their own vital interests, against themselves, to bring about their own destruction through the agency of a self-destructive ideology, morality or system of beliefs and values prevent them from being aware of either their madness or the fate it brings upon them.
Fact is often stranger than fiction. I put it to you that this shall be the fate awaiting BN for their follies !

Mengapa tiba-tiba UMNO "sayang" dekat PAS ? Asyik nak Muzakarah ("unity talk") dengan PAS ? Nik Aziz atau Tok Guru kata orang mukmin tidak akan dipatuk ular yang sama dalam lobang yang sama ("one does not get bitten by the same snake from the same hole twice").

Chua Soi Lek (CSL) pula meraban tahap gaban.

Bangkit, bangkit, bangkit Rakyat ! Hidup, hidup, hidup  Pakatan !
Ini kalilah, Jom Ubah !
